Trump claims China has ‘violated’ trade agreement with US in scathing message with ominous warning

President Donald Trump has slammed China as he claims the nation has ‘violated’ their trade agreement.

For the last three weeks China and US had agreed to a temporary trade truce, with the leaders of each nation having previously slapped large tariffs on goods coming in from the opposing country.

But that truce may have came to an end.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is tasked with brokering a trade deal between the two nations, told Fox News yesterday that trade talks are ‘a bit stalled’.

He added: “I think that given the magnitude of the talks, given the complexity, that this is going to require [leaders of both the countries] to weigh in with each other.”

It was Bessent that managed to negotiate the truce, after meeting with Chinese officials in Geneva – announcing that the two nations had agreed a ’90-day pause’ to tariffs.

Now, taking to Truth Social today (May 30), Trump has slammed Chinese President Xi Jinping and his communist administration for allegedly breaking their 90-day tariff truce.

The 78-year-old Republican posted: “Two weeks ago China was in grave economic danger! The very high Tariffs I set made it virtually impossible for China to TRADE into the United States marketplace which is, by far, number one in the World.

“We went, in effect, COLD TURKEY with China, and it was devastating for them. Many factories closed and there was, to put it mildly, ‘civil unrest.’ I saw what was happening and didn’t like it, for them, not for us.

“I made a FAST DEAL with China in order to save them from what I thought was going to be a very bad situation, and I didn’t want to see that happen. Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized and China got back to business as usual. Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!!”

Before adding: “The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!”

The two nations have been locked into a trade war since Trump announced April 2 as ‘Liberation Day’ for the US, unleashing tariffs on countries across the globe.

China ended up the worst hit by the POTUS’ tariffs – tariffs reaching as high as 145 percent on some items.

However, despite Trump’s warnings, the country hit back, unveiling its own counter-tariffs as high as 125 percent.

It is not yet known what will happen now in terms of levies placed on imports coming from each nation following Trump’s accusations.
