Adam Sandler has opened up about the secret to a long and happy marriage after 22 years with his wife, Jackie.
Watching many rom coms, or reading romance books, or romantasy if that’s more your thing, give a clear impression about marriage.
Whether it’s a Jane Austin novel or Bridget Jones’s Diary, marriage is always viewed as the end – the happily ever after – when in fact it’s probably better to think of it as the beginning.
Maintaining a marriage is just as important as those electrifying early stages where you meet and fall in love with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, if that’s what you want of course.
So how have Adam, 59, and Jackie Sandler, 51, looked after their marriage for their 22 years of sharing a life together?

In an interview with People, Adam revealed that it’s all down to the smaller, everyday interactions that we have with each other.
“We’re very close. We like to talk, like to laugh, like to have fun, and like to think about things and take care of our kids,” he said.
Director Adam and actor and producer Jackie met in 1999 when she was playing a waitress in the film Big Daddy.
Four years later the pair would get married in Malibu, California, in 2003, and welcomed Sadie, their first daughter, in 2006, with their second daughter, Sunny, joining them two years later in 2008.
Adam, known for his comedy films, opened up about how thankful he is for the life he has been able to lead as a result.

He said: “I’m just more thankful than I’ve ever been. Happy I got to do this life, happy all the people who’ve been with me during all this stuff, and helped me out, and [it’s] just been a phenomenal time.
“My whole family’s always been great to me. My wife and I talk about stuff, and what to do, and what to do next, and it’s just been a very cool life.”
In 2023, the couple marked 20 years of marriage together, with Adam taking to social media to mark the occasion.
“Happy 20th my sweet Jackie! Your ‘I do’ was the best gift of my life,” he wrote.
“My heart has been yours since the first second I saw you and I love and appreciate your devoted soul more and more each day.
“Us. The kids. Let’s keep going and going babe. Lots of love to give you. Always.”
