President Donald Trump has claimed Coca-Cola is preparing to change its recipe in the US following a conversation with himself.
Americans have been enjoying a cold can of Coke since it was first sold in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1986. It was the creation of Dr John Pemberton, who created the syrup and presented it to Jacob’s Pharmacy all those year ago, where it was mixed with carbonated water.
The recipe has changed a few times since then, the most notable would be the removal of cocaine from the drink in 1903. Yes, it’s crazy to think that people actually used to drink a glass of something containing a schedule II drug.
Now, the 79-year-old POTUS has attempted to coerce the soft drink giant into changing it up – with the Republican being a keen fan of a Diet Coke.

Taking to Truth Social, he posted: “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so.
“I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them – You’ll see. It’s just better!”
Before we get into the Coke’s response, it’s worth noting that Coca-Cola currently uses high-fructose corn syrup as a substitute for cane sugar in the US, which was supported by farming subsidies in the nation – with sugar cane having previously been imported from South America.
Now, Trump is pushing for sugar cane grown in the US to be used in the manufacturing process of America’s beloved soda.

Responding to the president, Coca-Cola Company issued the following statement to People: “We appreciate President Trump’s enthusiasm for our iconic Coca-Cola brand. More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca-Cola product range will be shared soon.”
Just three months ago, in April, the firm’s CEO James Quincey stressed to investors that Coca-Cola will ‘continue to make progress on sugar reduction in our beverages’.
While noting that his company has ‘done this by changing recipes as well as by using our global marketing resources and distribution network to boost awareness of and interest in our ever-expanding portfolio’.
So, the sugary drink we all enjoy might be changing soon – and the recipe that it would don wouldn’t actually be unfamiliar to Coca-Cola – that’s because Australia and Mexico, among other countries, use sugar cane in the manufacturing process.
